It's absolutely appalling what health insurance decides is a necessity and what isn't. The supplies that are needed to live as comfortably as possible are expensive. Modifying a home to be wheelchair accessible is very expensive. Living in a two story home that doesn't have a bedroom nor bathroom with a shower downstairs. Look around you and imagine you suddenly depend on a wheelchair to get anywhere. Unfortunately, Kirk is paralyzed from the waist down. Thankfully the doctor was able to remove the entire tumor. Within a week of discovering the tumor he was in the operating room.
After multiple visits to various doctors one amazing surgeon didn't give up until he found the reason for Kirk losing feeling in the legs. That turned into losing the ability to even walk. The months leading up to the diagnosis he slowly lost feeling in his legs. Kirk was suddenly diagnosed with spinal cancer after a very large tumor was found in his spinal column.
